SplitSwirl centrifugal separation device

The highest-capacity device in the Spliteks range of separation equipment. It consists of a tray fitted with cyclones and a drainage system beneath the tray. Gas containing liquid droplets enters the aerodynamic cyclone swirlers, where centrifugal forces cause the droplets to form a film on the cyclone walls and pass through slots into liquid collection chambers and then into the drainage system. The separated gas exits along the axis of each cyclone towards the vessel gas-outlet nozzle.

SplitSwirl can be combined with other Spliteks devices (SplitMesh, SplitChevron) to increase overall separator efficiency.

Fields of Application

Inlet separators for compressors and turboexpanders
Natural-gas dehydration absorbers
Primary gas treatment
Secondary ammonia-condensation separators

Advantages

Maximum gas and liquid capacity
Stable operation over a wide load range (up to 10:1)
Efficient separation, including in high-pressure vessels and under moderate fouling conditions

About

Spliteks manufactures the SplitSwirl centrifugal separation device. This high-capacity centrifugal separation device is designed to remove liquid droplets and mechanical impurities from gas in vertical separators.

Operating principle

SplitSwirl operates using centrifugal forces. The gas stream containing liquid droplets enters the aerodynamic cyclone swirlers. Under centrifugal forces, the liquid droplets are thrown against the cyclone walls, where they form a film and are directed through special slots into collection chambers and the drainage system. The cleaned gas exits along the centreline of each cyclone.

This mechanism ensures high separation efficiency even with significant flow-rate fluctuations and removes fine droplets as small as 5–10 μm.

Design features

The SplitSwirl centrifugal separation device comprises a supporting tray fitted with cyclones and a drainage system beneath the tray. Each cyclone is equipped with a swirler that generates intensive rotational flow.

Design components:

  • Aerodynamic cyclone swirlers.

  • Separated-liquid collection and discharge chambers.

  • Drainage channels.

The device is adapted to the separator diameter and specific operating conditions, including high pressure and the presence of aggressive components.

Advantages in industrial operation

SplitSwirl offers the highest throughput in the Spliteks range of separation devices. It operates efficiently at high gas velocities and ensures low liquid carryover.

Advantages:

  • High removal efficiency for liquid droplets and mechanical impurities.

  • Can be combined with other components (SplitMesh and SplitChevron) to provide comprehensive treatment.

  • Minimal hydraulic resistance.

  • Reliable operation under variable loads.

This design is particularly sought after in natural-gas treatment, associated-gas purification and oil-and-gas mixture separation processes.

Manufacture and supply

Its own manufacturing facilities in Serpukhov enable the SplitSwirl centrifugal separation device to be produced to the individual parameters of each project. All components undergo thorough quality control and hydraulic testing.

The device can be purchased directly from the manufacturer. Spliteks provides prompt delivery throughout Russia with a complete set of technical documentation.

The SplitSwirl centrifugal separation device is a modern, reliable and highly efficient solution for improving separation performance in industrial separators and ensuring stable, safe equipment operation under demanding process conditions.

Spliteks provides a full range of services, from process inspections, process and hydraulic calculations and the preparation of detailed design documentation to on-site installation and installation supervision for equipment manufactured at its own facilities.
